About
Abby’s Friends is an all volunteer, not for profit organization dedicated to raising awareness for Juvenile Diabetes, and to raising money for advancing Juvenile Diabetes Research. Type I diabetes is one of the most common diseases of childhood. It is more common than cancer, cystic fibrosis, multiple sclerosis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and muscular dystrophy. The incidence of Type I Diabetes in Children under the age of 5 years old has doubled over the past 5 years.
Abby is the 14 year old daughter of John and Kendell Sutterlin. In April of 2006, Abigail, at the age of 4 years was diagnosed with Type I (Juvenile) Diabetes. Later that year John and Kendell decided to ask for some help from some “FRIENDS” to raise awareness and money for this debilitating disease. They decided to start ABBY’S FRIENDS CHARITY and make the primary fundraising event Abby’s Friends Charity Golf Classic.
